Private Guided Visit of Atelier-Museum of Chana Orloff, Villa Seurat & Montsouris
Private Guided Visit of Atelier-Museum of Chana Orloff, Villa Seurat & Parc Montsouris
Discover a quieter, more intimate Paris through a sculptural and architectural journey in the southern reaches of Montparnasse, just a short walk from the Catacombes de Paris. Our experience unfolds far from the city’s main monuments, in a neighbourhood shaped by artists, architects and artisans seeking light, space and creative freedom.
Our private guided visit begins at the Atelier-musée Chana Orloff, a preserved studio-home that houses the most important collection of works by one of the great sculptors of the twentieth century. We will share the remarkably inspiring personal story of Chana Orloff, explore the central themes that run through her work and discuss her connections within the artistic and intellectual circles of her time and her lasting impact on modernity.
-
This Private Guided Art Tour is primarily led in a place that was never conceived as a museum, but as a space dedicated to the private life and the creations of the artist. The Atelier-Musée Chana Orloff remains an intensely private space and is where her family still resides today.
The experience is therefore profoundly intimate. We will be surrounded by sculpted portraits and figures that bear witness to Paris, to exile, to resilience and to the great fractures of the twentieth century.

Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are also recommended, as part of our experience takes place outdoors.
Our journey continues through villa Seurat, a discreet, off-the-beaten-path impasse conceived in the 1920s as an architectural laboratory, notably by French architect André Lurçat, whose Maison-atelier situated on 4 villa Seurat recently opened to public. It was also home to Henry Miller, Anaïs Nin, Chaïm Soutine, Mario Prassinos and Robert Couturier, among many other painters, writers, sculptors and avant-garde personalities.
Our visit concludes at the nearby Parc Montsouris, one of Paris’s great landscaped parks, designed in the nineteenth century but deeply resonant with the modern city that grew around it.
We would be delighted to share with you further recommendations on food and drinks, or other unique arty and cultural activities while you are in town.
